| Without
question the most common finch kept in captivity within the
U.S. These hardy little birds have introduced countless
persons into the hobby of breeding finches. Amazingly
prolific, a good set of parents will produce clutch after clutch of
offspring. While a good beginner bird, caution must be taken
when introducing other finches into their presence. Zebras can
become extremely aggressive to others, particularly during
their breeding period. The male can be recognized by the large
orange patches on his cheeks and the distinct barring on the chest.
