| Sometimes
called the Red Face Parrot finch, their proper name is as shown
above. These birds are prized for their outstanding
plumage. The male, shown at the top of the picture, has
somewhat brighter coloring than the hen. This is particularly
noticeable in a bright light.
Like most birds of the parrot finch family, they enjoy live food. This is particularly true when attempting to breed the species. In addition, greens are appreciated as well as some fruits.
