Size 5" (12 cm)
This bird is also known as the Green Winged Pytilia.  It is said that the male has a very melodious song.  While a calm resident in the aviary, they are best kept as a single pair because breeding time can cause aggressiveness among two males competing for the same hen.

While the male is strikingly colorful, the female lacks the bright plumage that this species is noted for.
