| This
bird should not be confused with either the Indian or the African
Silverbill. Both of those are smaller than this species and do
not have the distinctive markings on the head. These birds
would be at home in an aviary with Shafttails, Society, Owl, and
most of the medium size finches. Their pleasant disposition
would make them welcome in any normally sociable group of birds. These
are hard to distinguish the sex by looking for dissimilar
markings. Sometimes you have to look for attitude.
Notice how the male in the rear sits more erect on the perch, while
the hen tends to crouch. |
