Diamond Fire Tail finch
Emblema guttata

Country of Origin East & SE Australia
Compatibility Best kept with own species
Difficulty of breeding Moderate
Size 4-3/4" (12 cm)
Also sometimes know as the Diamond Sparrow.  Color variations are Fawn and Silver.  Somewhat larger than a Lady Gouldian finch, they can be aggressive when breeding.  This should not be a detriment to owning these beautiful birds however, because the same thing can be said for many finch species.

The color patch on the rump can be either red or orange.  In appearance, the sexes are almost alike.  The hen is said to have a duller eye-ring and a thinner black breast band.
