At one time, these were extremely rare in aviculture.  Currently they are more readily available.  Extremely active birds, their tails are constantly twitching as they hop from branch to branch.  For best results, especially in breeding, they require protein.  One breeder that we are familiar with captures grasshoppers in the summertime, chops and freezes them for year 'round food.

The male in the background has more pinkish feathers on the flanks beneath the wings.
