Blue Face Parrot finch
Erythrura trichroa

Country of Origin Northeast Australia, New Guinea
Compatibility Can be testy when breeding.  Not particularly recommended for community living with smaller species.
Difficulty of Breeding Best when a single pair is housed per cage.  Some breeders have been successful in producing offspring from this species.
Size Length 4-1/2 - 5 in (11- 12.5 cm)
While somewhat more aggressive than other finches, their iridescent color makes these birds a distinctive addition to your collection.  The male, which is perched behind the hen, has more blue on the face.  It is also slightly more brilliant when placed in direct sunlight.
